セツの英単語帳

八雲の発音する英語を聞き返しながらセツが鉛筆でメモした手作りの英単語帳。しかし二人の間では、独特の言い方を含んだ日本語の話し言葉（ヘルンさん言葉）で意思疎通をしていた。

English vocabulary book

This is Setsu’s handmade English vocabulary book. She would repeat Hearn’s words and write them in pencil in this book. The couple communicated in a unique form of Japanese which they called “Hearn’s language”.
